Karen Lewis brings a diversity of schooling and work experience
to her real estate business that spans much of the US.
She
grew up in one of Bostons south shore fishing villages. She
received her Bachelors Degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy
and went on to study speech in a masters program. She went
to the prestigious Radcliffe College to study Landscape Design.
Her first home was a modest three bedroom, 2 bath in Andover, one
of Bostons bedroom communities. Major landscaping and some
interior design updates led to a 65% increase in the value of that
home in two years.
Her husbands business took the family cross country to Portland,
Oregon where after significant interior design changes and landscaping
enhancements she sold that property for a strong 120% increase in
just three years.
Returning East she took a turn of the century home in need of significant
updating and decorating and turned it into one of the neighborhoods
premier garden homes. During her time in Stamford, CT she was a
member and judge with the Shippan Point Garden Club. Her landscape
design background coupled with her love for gardening was having
a major impact on her philosophy of focusing on the transitional
spaces from indoor to outdoors. Patios, decks, gardens, sun rooms,
the use of plant material, window treatments and moldings were used
to leverage the value of that home.
From Stamford the family moved to Bryn Mawr, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia.
There Karen was Assistant Store Manager for Calico Corners where
her service orientation and love for fabrics helped drive the store
into the top 10 nationwide for this chain of home fashion stores.
Fabrics for high end window treatments and upholstering of fine
furniture were the cornerstone of that business. She worked closely
with the in-store design team as well as freelance designers.
Now in St. Augustine, Karen is combining her real estate, interior
design, landscape design and service orientation to the benefit
